The Freeborn station is located off of 300th St. near exit 215 on I-5. This stations’ primary response area is mostly the rural area it neighbors, I-5, HWY 532, Old 99, and Pioneer HWY. It is staffed 24/7 with 6 crew members, 2 on each shift, in correlation to the modified Detroit schedule. This houses an Engine, Tender, second out Aid car, and a first out Aid car that has capabilities to do both ALS and BLS services. This is also the home for over 15 active volunteers, who staff any remaining units on an on-call basis, providing additional firefighting and support capabilities to the area. This station also is the main building for the On-duty Battalion Chief office and also the location where business meetings are held because of its central location.
