Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

We provide both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support Services (ALS) within our fire service area. The provision of our emergency medical services is overseen by a Medical Control Director who is actually a medical physican. Currently our Medical Control Director is Dr. Eric Cooper. All of our continuing education training is administered by him to ensure that we are providing our service to the current medical standards.

  • Basic Life Support
    • Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs)
    • 110 hours of training
    • Administers oxygen, glucose, asthma inhalers, and epinephrine auto-injectors
    • Performs CPR
    • External procedures only
  • Advanced Life Support
    • Paramedics
    • 1,500 hours of training
    • Establish IVs and administer medications
    • Can create tracheal intubations and new airways in the neck
    • Diagnoses heart rhythms (EKGs)
